Burger King Will Soon Discontinue Several Menu Items
Burger King is taking a more dramatic strategy to turn around sales and drive-thru wait times.
The renowned burger chain will eliminate numerous menu items to optimize operations.
Many fast-food chains have used it throughout the pandemic to reduce kitchen and drive-thrus demand. McDonald's discontinued its all-day
breakfast, while Taco Bell's 12-item reduction looked excessive. Burger King has seen that simplifying menus enhanced sales and service times for those stores.
Jose Cil, CEO of Restaurant Brands International, which owns Burger King, told USA Today that the restaurant will cut its menu to improve drive-thru waits.
He said at Morgan Stanley's Global Consumer and Retail Conference this week, "We're working on eliminating SKUs that—we're simplifying
processes that have become a bit too complicated in terms of sandwich builds, and doing a better job in terms of menu design to make it easier
for the customer, at the drive-thru in particular, to make quicker decisions It is unclear which items may be discontinued in the following weeks.
